Program goals are that clients will identify and learn coping skills to manage their substance use or mental health disorder. Objectives include meeting with their therapist and collaboratively complete an assessment which includes the client’s individual goals while in therapy. Clients must attend weekly/bi weekly sessions to learn positive coping skills to address mental health issues and substance use. Clients may be referred to psychopharmacology appointments if needed. A streamlined process would reduce the amount of time a potential client remains on the waitlist. A shortened waitlist would also align with the company’s mission statement of easy access to a comprehensive range of behavioral health services for all ages. The longer a client stays on a waitlist the likelihood of them coming in for services declines steadily (Stern & Brown, 1994). Also, if a client is assigned a therapist who specializes in their diagnosis there will be fewer transfers of clients among therapists. Due to the more appropriate fit the client is more likely to attend his weekly sessions.
