Calla What's Life Like On Earth

“Calla, what’s life like on Earth? I’ve never been, but I’ve always wanted to visit and see what life was like on a planet that hadn’t known about life in other parts of the universe for so long,” Ida attempts, trying to make conversation to lighten the dreary mood that had settled on them all once again. “It’s boring, I guess. Nothing notable. And, it’s not like people didn’t know about life in other parts of the universe, it’s just that Earth has done some… fairly questionable things and most other entities were highly distrustful of humans. Actually, most humans are highly distrustful of other humans, so it’s not that surprising,” Calla responds absentmindedly. She was busy trying to perfect the operation of the ship. Never had she operated controls like the one this craft had, but she trusts that with another ten minutes or so she will have everything mastered. Her brain instantly files through the hundreds of languages she had encountered to match up with the one flashing before her eyes on the holographic screen making up the ships control pad. Ida sits beside her, listening to her commands to keep the ship flying safely. Ida hums. She hadn’t expected much from Calla, knowing that once the small human entered Hyper-focus it was nearly impossible to break her from the spell. It wasn’t often that Calla talked more than a few sentences at a time, unless it was to ramble about the impracticality of Starburst and the Infinite Improbability Drive, both matters of hyperspace travel that she found highly ridiculous but explained using far to many and to large words for Ida to understand. It was easier to just nod along. Ida glances to Max who is currently very serious about the mission at hand, as they all are, but none have experienced something as personal as he had. …show more content…
“Max… how is the loop? Is everything firing correctly, weapons online?” Max grunts, eyes not wavering from the screen before him. Ida is worried about him, as she’s sure they all are, but she just doesn’t know how to help him. “Are we nearing the destination?” Quinten’s voice spoke in each of their headsets. He had unfortunately been shoved into the cargo area of the ship, as the cabin was only meant to hold three people. “Nearly,” Calla responds, “Not long now. If the information we received is correct we should be arriving at the base ship in approximately twenty-five minutes. Make that twenty-four minutes. Stand ready crew.” The cabin falls silent as they all begin to ready themselves for the upcoming battle. A massive army is on standby, waiting for their command to attack, but knowing that the enemy they were up against had wiped out entire planets with hardly a scratch to their ego, it was difficult to believe that they could win this. Seeing the base up close was a surreal experience. A massive looming void, it looked from afar, just a void blocking out the stars and planets and looming over everything. It looked like a small planet itself. Infiltration was surprisingly easy. The ships detection systems sensed that their ship was one of their own and the doors opened to allow them inside. “Calla and Quinten, you take northeast and Ina and I will
