CI 201 Reflection Essay

Overall, CI 201 was a very beneficial class for me to take in my journey towards becoming a teacher. One big takeaway I have from this class is to be innovative with technology and to use it to do things that would be difficult to do without using technology, rather than using it just to use it. I think this will be very important for me to keep in mind as I start my teaching career because as the amount of technology available to students increases, I will have to think of ways to use it in my classroom that will make learning the different content both engaging and effective for my future students. I learned many different technological tools that I have learned will be beneficial to use in my future classroom. One project that I really enjoyed …show more content…
In this standard, teachers should be able to demonstrate their abilities using each of the different technology tools that they expect their students to use and to learn how to use different technological tools to communicate information. One of the assignments I completed this semester to work towards mastering this standard is the Google assignment. I used Google Forms to create a sample form that parents could fill out to give more information about their child. I think this would be a very effective way to communicate with parents as well as use technology to gather information. I think without using this technology, it would be difficult to collect this information, as a paper copy could easily be lost or forgotten. Since Google Drive tools are free, I know a lot of schools will want to use them, so being introduced to them in this class and learning to use them efficiently will be very helpful in my future as a teacher. Also, students will most likely have to use tools like Google Slides or Google Docs to collaborate on projects, so learning how to use them in this class is a good way to learn how to be efficient in this tool. I would like to continue to use other tools that I learned about in this class to better prepare myself for my future

Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. I helped out the STEM academy by explaining people about the experiments, the purpose behind the experiments and cleaned or organized lab equipment. I was a part of the STEM academy for approximately three years in high school and I really enjoyed it because I knew I could make a difference in my community.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

How I plan to teach Culturally and Linguistically Diverse students, is to use what I have learned in EDU 305 as a guideline to apply what has been taught in class and use it for my students in the future. Ideally, I would like to teach at high school level in South Korea. I also find that helping CLD students who are learning English as their second language also fits for what I plan for the future. With high schoolers, some of the students that just came to America would not understand English well. When students starts to learn English around the ages of 15-18 years old, it can be frustrating and difficult for them.…
