Theory is a critical component of advancement of nursing’s future. As nurses we interpret and analyze information in specific and detailed ways. We need the perfect balance of clinical knowledge and theoretical knowledge to bridge the gap and push us fast forward into the future of nursing success (Meleis, 2012). Nursing education has moved towards colleges (Saifan, AbuRuz, & Masa’deh, 2015). With this change, many problems arise. One noted problem is the poor communication between clinical instructors and nursing educators. In order to fill the gap of knowledge, there needs to be a distinct and deliberate process of communication set up between classroom educator and clinical educator. It is important for classroom educators be up to date on clinical skills in order to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The educators must be able to present information in a clear and concise manner. Theory and practice are the link to nursing success. These two integral parts of nursing education need to be well developed in each individual. Communication is a key factor in improving the gap between a clinical and classroom environment. Education is the motivator for change and cohesion of the gap. We need to understand the importance of bridging the gap between the classroom and the clinical environment. Nursing knowledge whether theoretical or clinical in nature, is a path of self- discovery. In following the path of self-discovery each learning experience needs to be synthesized and built upon. As a nurse, one must take the initiative to reflect on individual nursing practice.
