These agents could be plants, animals, to insects and more. While certain agents may be biological controls for other things success of regulation may not always result. The Boneseed population was growing on the coast of South Australia and growing more inland at a vast rate. Boneseed being an invasive plant in Australia was affecting the current environment, how the plant arrived in Australia was unknown.
In 2000 the boneseed leaf roller was released in April first in Victoria Australia. There was a release of moths at 67 different sites all varying in climate and habitat. At the end of program in 2005 researchers found the boneseed moth failed to “establish”, this possibly being attributed to the wide variety of climate and habitat unlike in South America2. In South Africa the boneseed leaf roller moth feeds on the foliage of the boneseed plant. The moth can be a voracious eater and will eat the plant up to severely damaging it. Thus making it the most destructive organism to the boneseed. During times of high numbers of these moths we will see the boneseed plant population devastated, the moths will eat all the vegetation on the bush leading to plant death
