From 1861 to 1865 there was a war between the North and South in the United States over the issue of slavery. In previous years talks and meetings to try and solve the issue of slavery in the United States were unsuccessful and resulted in the South seceding from the nation and becoming its own confederation. The north was against slavery while the south wanted slavery to remain. The north ended up winning the Civil War and resulted in the abolishment of slavery in the United States. This event is another event that shows how power can result in an ultimate conclusion while speeches and majority resolutions do not help.
Bismarck in his speech “Blood and Iron” set the basis of how power is the ultimate form of control in a country. He showcases how with blood and iron is the only way to reach an ultimate resolution that is for the better of a country. War is the ultimate form of power, having the winner with the better army be the victorious party that enforces the ideals they want.
