Rebecca May "The same winds blow on us all; the winds of disaster, opportunity, and change. Therefore, it is not the blowing of the wind, but the setting of our sails that determine our direction in life. (Rohn, 2016)" In terms of climate change, America needs to set its sail. As a global power, it is essential that America reduces its fossil fuel use. Why? Not only is America one of the world's highest polluters, but as a global leader, the US can inspire other uninterested countries to take a route to reduce their own CO2 levels. This being said, one of the best ways America can reduce its carbon footprint is to switch to alternative energy sources, such as wind energy. Wind energy is incredibly simplistic. As the blades spin, a shaft inside of the turbine will also spin. This shaft spins into a generator, making energy. And guess what? Depending on the generator, wind energy can be either mechanical or electrical! (Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy, 2014) This form of alternative energy has gotten bigger and better in recent years, generating 24 times more electricity than it did in 2001. (Environment America Research & Policy Center, December 2014) Still, some skeptics have doubts about the effects, production, and usage of wind turbines. They say that we should discontinue the use of carbon energy, because wind energy has too many problems. This paper argues and proves we should not stop the production of wind energy in America because of minuscule
