The battles orders were given from Hitler he, he wanted Stalingrad for two reasons. One reason being is Hitler wanted the oil fields of the Caucasus region. The second reason being Stalingrad was the only soviet city to have the name of its leader. The normal life expectancy for a soviet private was usually less than 24Hrs, an officer was lucky to make it 4 days. The war was so intense on the soldier’s body’s they became dehydrated and eventually were running out of food. Roughly 4,000 bombs every square kilometer. The war began to be fought throughout trenches witch any men women or children healthy enough dug. With roughly 7,700 casualties a day the sides were dying off quickly. Eventually the Germans were running out of tanks and other artillery and the tanks began being thrown together by students and staff of a local university the parts were from an old tractor factory and they weren’t bulletproof.
