Bleachers had taken place in a football-obsessed town named Messina. A small town of about 8,000 lived for Friday night football games. The story was told in third person point of view. The rising action of this book begins with Neely Crenshaw, who is returning to his hometown of Messina. Back in the 1980’s, he was the school’s star quarterback who helped lead the team to a state championship in 1987.…
Football has become a way of life for Americans. There is Friday night high school football, Saturday college football, and Sunday NFL. There are teams all over the country that fans devote themselves to one hundred percent, and in the small, deserted town of Odessa, the fans do just that. In H. G. Bissinger’s Friday Night Lights, football has become a necessity in life. The town comes together every Friday night and rallies for their team.…
Personal Narrative It took us about 3 hours to get to Shakopee, it was only 60 degrees, but with the thousands of people lined up, waiting to get in, it felt like 90. We stood in that line for two hours. For awhile, we talked, we met a variety of people, we laughed, we were excited. But once we got closer to the front of the line we all got quiet, this is it, we were in, we were all going to see our idols.…
Few experiences in a high school musician’s career are as rewarding as participating in an honor band. A weekend on a breathtaking college campus advancing one’s musicianship, honor bands not only help a musician blossom but also create lasting memories. Those accepted into an honor band have both talent and dedication. Consequently, auditioning for an honor band is a challenge that requires diligent practice for weeks or even months. To successfully audition, one must have fast and accurate scales, the right etudes, and skillful sight reading.…

"Good better best, never let it rest, 'till your good is better and your better is best." These simple words were spoken to me by my high school band director Cheldon Williams on the first day of my high school experience. This, followed by my experience of marching band and my eventual learning of piano sparked a period of introspective thought, and mental growth, that transcended to where I am today. Never in my life did I think my hard work and dedication inspired by Mr. Williams words would land me at Interlochen Center for the Performing Arts Boarding School. These words became a core part of what I am, and from freshman year on would encourage me to never set a limit on my potential, and my overall worth.…
I performed in marching band in grades 9,10, 11, and 12. We practiced at 7:00 a.m. until school started all four years during the first nine weeks of school. I also completed band camp in summer for two weeks at 8 hours per day prior to school every year. Participated in 4 weekend competitions each year including Harvest of Harmony. The trips usually involved leaving on a bus at 9 a.m. and returning home 12 hours later.…
The blazing rays of the hot summer sun beamed down on the sticky asphalt. I dashed into the high school as the rays touched my skin. Walking in the doors, the halls were dark. Twenty-three girls sat on the floor to the right of me, waiting to hear if they made the soccer team. I began walking towards them. .…
In the making of country music three young men, all of them twelve years of age, named Hank, Merle, and Johnny. Everyone said they were born crying loud, strong, and in a blues kind of tune. One day the boys met under a great big cedar tree. Ask Hank started moaning the blues Merle and Johnny chimed in singing in their smooth as molasses voices. As they got further into the song they saw the tree starting to twist and form into three weird shapes.…

With over 90 chapters in Europe, 90 in the USA and 17 chapters down in the dusty plains of Australia. But who’s the man behind the scenes that forged this club together. The man convicted of murdering two drug dealers and serving a life sentence, Donald Eugene Chambers is the American founder of the Bandidos outlaw bikie gang. Donald Chambers, straight out of the Marine Corps in Vietnam created the Bandidos outlaw bikie gang, which broadened internationally into an even bigger and better bikie club.…
Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…
When most people think of rock as a genre of music, their thoughts range from thinking about classic rock to heavy metal rock. Within this genre are a variety of subgenres that people know and associate as rock. Once you ask the person specifically what kind of rock they enjoy, will they then mention a subgenre. Rock started off as a specific genre, but over the years it has branched off into more specific genres, because new ones evolved from those before it. This brings up the debate of what is truly authentic rock music and what is not.…
It was a brisk fall evening with the sun just about to set behind a hill. I was 10 years old, playing in my third season of football, and my first ever game under the bright lights surrounding the high school stadium. The time had finally come, the lights had been on and warming up for several minutes, I was going to play a game under the lights on the high school field. My experiences that night were not forgotten, but today I couldn’t even tell you if we won the game that night. The lessons I learned that night weren’t about winning and losing, I had done plenty of that already in my life.…
I have always been waiting for this day. It gave me the anticipation as I saw the city I’m in, listed in the tour schedule. I cannot contain my excitement as I bought my ticket. I even bought an outfit I was going to wear for this very special day. It was such an experience from the moment we arrived at the event, during, and until it was over.…
Rock art can be viewed as part of everyone’s cultural heritage or as part of a specific groups’ cultural heritage. It is this difference of thought that can cause much debate on who should have access to and how to manage rock art sites. One way to ensure that the heritage is preserved regardless of what happens to the rock art itself is to record the stories that go along with the art. “Collecting and archiving [stories], with due respect for the traditional owners and in accordance with their wishes about what can or cannot be published, is as much a duty as preserving the art and its natural and archeological contexts” (Clottes, 2008:6). There is just some knowledge that is not meant to be learned or recorded.…
