With the help of the website, Scrible, a free of cost site that is used to share or annotate online articles, I was able to use the note taking and highlighting strategy with its providence of a useful toolbar that consists of highlighters, note tabs, and more (Appendix 2). For the summary essay, I was to summarize the article, “The Babysitters Club”, by Jesse Barron, from the website, Longform. The note taking strategy is useful for when you need to summarize a piece of writing. It is an important skill, especially at the college-level, to be able to take notes because it is what helps me obtain information from the long article and summarize what is important. For example, for the very first paragraph, I highlighted key words and emphasized on phrases before drawing a medium sized note on the side to write what I believed the paragraph was about. Highlighting and emphasizing key words and/or phrases allowed me to focus my attention on the reading and to think about the key concepts and ides throughout the txt. This benefitted me in the end because the notes that I gathered were used as guidance for my essay, which even made the process …show more content…
There are several of things that I have also learned about myself, such as being able to sit down and write a good essay if I want to and to never overthink but to just let the ideas flow. I have improved as a writer and I understand that writing is a process, not something you can do last minute and expect to improve continuously. Taking my time with writing allows me to have a good paper, and the feedback I get from it only makes me stronger and a better writer. I can leave this class, grateful and self-assured knowing that as time passes, I will continue to improve as a
