As an athletic trainer you have to evaluate and advise individuals to assist recovery from or avoid athletic related injuries illnesses or maintain peak physical fitness. They may provide first aid or emergency care. Athletic trainers specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating muscle and bone injuries and illnesses.
Careers related to athletic trainers are physical therapists and exercise physiologists. Physical therapists also prevent and restore injuries but unlike athletic trainers physical therapists help patient to develop, restore and maintain movement and physical function. As a physical therapist's you work with people of all ages and fitness levels with chronic and intense injuries. An exercise physiologist develop fitness and exercise programs that help people recover from chronic diseases and improve cardiovascular function, body composition and flexibility.
