Even though beach – replenishment is cheaper than building an artificial reef, it is a continuous job. The government has to spend more money on that as new sand is much looser, it will erode more quickly. It is a fact that beach nourishment, an average, erodes 3x faster than regular beach sand. It also decreases the economic rates as the beach is being closed during the process. That results into less tourists on Surfers Paradise.
