As you start familiarizing yourself with alcohol, you learn how your body processes it. Unfortunately, most people do not know how to enjoy alcohol properly and end up abusing this substance. Normally, people in college go out and drink to have a good time but in most cases its another means to get messed up and forget your problems. “In 2014, 59.8 percent of full-time college students ages 18–22 drank alcohol in the past month compared with 51.5 percent of other persons of the same age.” (Alcohol Facts And Statistics). The issue behind this is that we have our youth dying because they drank too much alcohol which is unacceptable in 2016. “1,825 college students between the ages of 18 and 24 die from alcohol-related unintentional injuries, including motor-vehicle crashes.” (Alcohol Facts and Statistics). Alcohol abuse doesn’t stop with college students. Under-aged children are consuming alcohol, which is detrimental to their health. The children of this generation should not be pursuing activities that adults indulge in. Under the effects of alcohol someone could engage in illegal activities that they normally would not do. These illegal activities include drunk driving, rape, assault, battery, destruction of property and so on. Drinking can be extremely dangerous for someone because it’s addictive like a drug. Adults abuse alcohol simply because they can. College students abuse it at parties, bars, and clubs and they end up in unpredictable situations. Teenagers abuse alcohol because they view it as a right of passage or are peer pressured into drinking.
