One of the most innovative technology companies, Apple Incorporated was founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. The company success can be traced back to the legendary Steve Jobs, not only a co-founder but also the late Chairman and CEO of Apple Inc. (Finkle & Mallin, 2010). Apple Inc. created the Macintosh computer and laptop, iPod and iTunes, iPhone and most recently the Apple watch (Finkle & Mallin, 2010). I will discuss how Apple differs from other technology organizations. One will see how Apple “has had a profound impact on technology, innovating and influencing the technology world” (Terrell, 2008, par 8).

Formal group is defined by the organization’s structure, with designated work assignments and established tasks (Robbins & Judge, 2017). At Apple new walls are swiftly constructed, additionally doors and new security protocols are implemented (Lashinsky, 2012) when formal groups are established for a new product. Formal groups working on products work in “lockdown rooms: no information goes in or out without a reason” (Lashinsky, 2012, p. 33).
Effective teams are categorized to resources and contextual influences, team’s composition and lastly the process variables (Robbins & Judge, 2017). Apple constructs a culture of trust and respect between managers and employees (Denning, 2011). For contextual influences, a climate of trust is the foundation of leadership, it allows a team to accept and commit to their leader’s goals and decisions (Robbins & Judge, 2017). As Apple continue to grow they take pride in the small progress and humbly admits they still have progress to be made. Steve Jobs carried out his world changing vision with Apple products. The culture created at Apple Organization leads the company to continued success. Current CEO Tim Cook vows to keep Apple’s successful culture the way Job’s created it.
