Through my experience with my major, I cannot explain how my idea about it changed. I just woke up one day and I thought majoring in accounting would be a good idea for my future. This is an example of how the people around us can influence a person’s ideas and thoughts that they wouldn’t think of for themselves. In the movie inception, one of the opening scenes with Arthur, Saito and Cobb, Cobb speaks up about an idea, “Resilient, highly contagious. Once an idea’s taken hold in the brain it’s almost impossible to eradicate. A person can cover it up, ignore it- but it stays there. (Inception. Christopher Nolan, 2010.)” This line from the movie explains how deep an idea or thought really is in someone’s mind. Once someone influences a person enough to believe what they believe then an idea was planted in their brain. This whole concept that I am arguing is not considered inception or needs to be compared to inception. I am suggesting that a person knows how the idea was created, but maybe does not understand how it became their idea. I knew the idea of my major was an idea that came from my parents, but I don’t know how this idea became my idea when I never thought that it could be. The idea was planted, and it grew into something. This could happen a lot with all different types of people. If someone that is around us all the time keeps suggesting the same things, then it can build into an …show more content…
In Meditations three, he questions himself the most on the ideas and his thoughts. Descartes explains, “All these points demonstrate sufficiently that up to this point it was not a well-founded judgment but only a blind impulse that formed the basis of my belief that things existing outside me send ideas or images of themselves to me through the sense organs or by some other means. (Cress, Donald A., trans. Meditations on First Philosophy.)” This supports my statement that something other than ourselves creates an idea in our minds. Descartes does not say other people, or friends or family, but he does think it could be another person. That is my main argument, that it is something other than our own
