According to Carl Jung’s typology theory, there are four pairs of preference alternatives toward which each of us are predisposed. These preferences are Extraversion or Introversion, Sensing or Intuitive, Thinking or Feeling and Judging or Perceiving. Knowing our own preferences first, and then observing others’ preferences, each of us can change the work place environment for the better. In fact, As Christians it is not an option for us as we strive to build relationships based upon God’s example - relationship built on covenant. Emerging from this application are attitude, process and structure of healthy organizations where the people care about others, power is shared by all and leaders and followers are accountable to each other. In the early 1900s, Carl G. Jung introduced the theory of psychological types. To make this theory useful to individuals and groups, Isabell Briggs Myers and her mother, Katherine Briggs developed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Assessment and provided descriptions of the 16 personality types of Jung’s theory (The Myers Briggs Foundation, 2016). Utilizing the assessment and discovering my own personal preferences will provide me insight into my behaviors in the workplace. Also, it is my duty as a Christian to present actions and attitudes in the workplace that align with biblical truth. Having a biblical worldview allows me to do so, especially when integrating biblical covenant as the foundation for relationship building. Duty is based out of care for others (attitude of a healthy organization), leaders and subordinates are mutually accountable to each other (the process of a healthy organization), and power is shared by everyone in the covenant (the structure of a healthy organization) (Fisher, 2012). There are two sections comprising this paper, the first of which describes my personal personality type and temperament. The second section reflects on how I can apply what I have learned in the workplace generally and specifically to help myself become a better employee, leader, co-worker and/or …show more content…
At the same time, I need to face my weaknesses by realizing no one is ever right 100% of the time including myself, not getting involved in win-lose conversations and striving for win-wins, being more in tune with how others are feeling and being intentional on giving out praise and affirmations more often. I need to stifle the desire to control everything by turning the desire inward to control myself.

After completing both the DISC and JUNG Typology assessments, there are many outcomes that I found interesting. For starters, in the DISC assessment there were multiple categories that gave me various feedback. These included decisive, interactive, stabilizing, and cautious categories. My decisive score showed moderately low on the “D” spectrum and I thought that was very accurate. I tend to be hesitant on sharing my opinions in big group setting and I also would rather support someone else’s decisions rather than argue with them unless they are completely wrong.…

For the majority of my professional life I worked primarily in the private sector; consequently, I have very minimal professional experience in the public sector. While rummaging through various documents, searching for material required for the completion of this analysis, I recognized that there are overlapping and recurring themes which clearly point to who I am as a professional and, thus, the direction in which my professional life should proceed, public service. Therefore, my professional mission statement is, “To vigorously perform my responsibilities as a public administrator and to enhance the quality of public service by providing my clients with dedication, honesty and a commitment to make the best interest of all, my first priority.”…

On the other hand, when looking at the organizational impact of the covenantal leadership style, one can see a flourishing organization. Covenantal leaders empower others through open communication, commitment, trust, respect, and shared values. The empowerment results in organizational flexibility, adaptability, and more meaningful engagement between leadership and other members of the organization (Fischer & Schultz, 2016, p. 53). A covenantal arrangement allows everyone to “see the larger constraints and goals of the organization and not just the impact of rules and decisions at their level” (Fischer & Schultz, 2016, p. 54). Since covenantal leaders care about what other think, they take the time to listen to the ideas of others therefore…

Ethics are the universal and unchanging standards of what we should do; it is what is good. (Ruddell, 2004, p.13) My Christian foundation compels me to be ethical and address unethical issues to eradicate them in the workplace.…

He also believes that these archetypes must be expressed in every human, and if it is not expressed, the person will experience one side of personality. This belief stirred my thinking. It would appear that if an employee was placed in a job that was well suited to their personality traits and strengths, they would exhibit more positive emotional reactions to any given situation. However, there are specific factors that are necessary for any employee – no matter what personality type – that determine this reaction as well. In the book Strengths Based Leadership by Tom Rath and Barry Conchie, they lay out the four basic needs of employees in a workplace – trust, compassion, stability, and hope (Rath, Conchie, 2008, p.82). According to this theory, trust “increases speed and efficiency in the workplace” (Rath, Conchie, 2008, p.83). Applying this further, in the week four presentation, the concept of “climate of trust” states that trust causes employees to become covenantal (Fischer, 2009).…
