Does your school allow cell phones? Many schools do not allow phone usage during school. Many parents and educators believe students would waste time on their phones rather than doing homework. Reasons cell phones should be allowed in schools are they are portable, allow students to be creative with assignments, and teach responsibility. Cell phones will be beneficial in schools because of their portability. Phones can fit in pockets which makes traveling more convenient than bulky laptop.Cell phones also make doing homework around extracurricular activities easy from being able to access the internet without wifi. Sophomore Samantha Dewitt says she was able to do an essay on Julius Caesar while at an away swim meet. Doing the paper was no problem because she had her cellphone to finish it between her races (Arnett 2). Daniel Self says his phone allows him to complete homework wherever such as on the bus or in the car. With her cellphone, Ashley Garcia filmed an instructional video on creating a paper-mache fish. Ashley used Microsoft Hyperlapse Mobile and WeVideo to edit it (Wells 1). Her project was possible due to the fact she could film, add voiceover, and add background music all on her cell phone. Ms.Kennis, a global history does what she calls #tbt quizzes. The quizzes help students study previous topics for the Regents state global history exam (Wells 2). In Visalia, California a student in Mr.Feehan’s used Snapchat for a project. Her project used pictures with reflexive verbs to describe what she was doing. She even added emojis to make it unique and interesting (Wells 2).
