To test the Gliding theory, we must use Alan Feduccia’s theory of claw curvature. Feduccia conducted a study to determine whether you could classify a modern bird based off its claw shape, since birds are descendants to dinosaurs[Birn-Jeffery, Miller, Naish, Rayfield & Hone(2012)]. Birds are placed into three categories, perchers, climbers and cursorials. Knowing that it is highly unlikely that Zhenuanlong Suni fly, the percher category is removed from the possible list. This leaves the two possibilities of being a climber or a runner. Based off of Feduccia’s study, by observing Zhenyuanlong Suni’s claws we should be able to determine what category it falls under by comparing it to modern day birds.
