Rhabdomyolysis is a systemic syndrome resulting in skeletal muscle injury with the release of muscle cell contents into the plasma (Kasaoka, 2010). Acute renal failure is a common complication of rhabdomyolysis. Renal damage is caused by the nephrotoxic effects of myoblobin which is released from muscle cells (Kasaoka, 2010). The myoglobin precipitates in the renal tubules and obstructs the flow through the nephron producing injury (Huether, 2017).
