I selected servant leadership because I have practiced in the past and saw how effective it was. According to Daft (2015), servant leadership enhances the relationship a leader has with his followers through seven values namely being teachable, demonstrating discipline, showing concern for the followers, showing mercy in beliefs of action of all people, seeking the best for the organization, creating an environment of peace, and fulfilling the needs of the organization and his followers. The fact that a servant leader proves that he values the needs of the followers and those of the organization over his own needs enable him win trust of the followers. Leadership is the ability of influencing others, motivating and enabling them contribute to the success and effectiveness of the organization. On the other hand, management involves directing and controlling others so as to harmonize and coordinate all the employees to accomplish the set goals. Leaders are therefore people-oriented while managers are task-oriented. While leaders look for achievements, managers look for results. Leaders are also risk taking, using transformational, consultative, and participative leadership styles, facilitative, and use their power through charisma and influence for their followers. Managers are risk averse, use position and formal power on their subordinates, involved in decision process, and manage using dictatorial, autocratic, democratic, transactional, authoritative, and consultative styles (Daft, 2015). Nevertheless, organizations require both leaders and managers. The managers are required to manage tasks and get results while leaders would lead people looking for
