Abolitionists are people who fought to end slavery. Some famous abolitionists were Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Stanton. These women fought hard and fought strong. They didn't think it was right for people to be enslaved like animals and be treated like property. Some people were abolitionists because of their religion, some just thought it was plain wrong to treat a living person inhumanely. Some abolitionists wanted the slaves to be emancipated right away, some wanted to take time and let it slowly handle itself. Abolitionists were mainly in the North and fought to get their message across. They clashed with the South and this led to the Civil War.
