To summarize the APA report, it argues that the article did a poor job in six ways of explaining how girls and women are sexualized and how sexualization negatively affects them. Two critisms the APA had for the article would be over-determined impact of sexualization on girls and women and conflation of objectification, sexual objectification, and sexualization. In the over-determined section, it tells us how sexual images and sexualization can have negative impact. The author tries to prove their point by using certain tactics like, only focusing on the negative impact, being bias towards evidence that could prove that there are upsides to sexual images, they’re not specific about what counts as sexual imagery, and using terms that have strong …show more content…
I picked stores that are huge and known to carry both girls and boys clothing in the store. I decided to do this for two reasons. One, I’ve noticed that girl’s clothing is a hot topic now because it’s deemed very inappropriate in this day and age. Two, I use to wear and shop for boy clothes when I was younger. Before the searching, I decided I was going to look for certain things. I was going to look for suggestive wording or phrases, aggressive/passive words or phrases, how much fabric and if a lot of skin would show, desgin, style, and I looked at size. To avoid biasness, I would try to focus on the same category of clothing. So I wouldn’t focus on dresses because the boy section didn’t have a dress category. Instead I focused on graphic tees, tops, and activewear. In activewear, I was noticing how many article of clothing there was. So, I decided to compare the clothing within their brand because not only would it help cut down on how many clothes I had to look at; but it also help me compare quality in the same brand. This technique was used for tops and graphic tees too.In the end, I found that boy clothing no matter what store or brand, they’ll have a wider variety and much better looking clothes. It reminded me why I started wear boys shirts, and why I still

The editorial “Pimping Teenage Girls” by The Washington Times is an editorial used to show the audience that females are often hypersexualized in the media. The author used lots of connotation and bias to prove their point and show others that sexual exploitation of females on TV needs to stop. Rhetoric was used lightly in this editorial, the author not overly using it. A common form of rhetoric that was found was pathos, and this was one form that the author used a lot. For example in paragraph 9 the sentence states that “viewers themselves must let the networks know that the exploitation of children is unacceptable by turning off the trash, dialing a decent channel when they can find one, and reading a newspaper, magazine or book during prime time when ratings are made” (The Washington Times 9).…

APPENDIX C: STAKEHOLDER ANALYSIS WRITERS AND EDITORS Those who produce BuzzFeed’s content would be most severely affected by a position on the sexual objectification of men/women. An official position means they would be more limited in terms of the content they can produce. Writers may have their own personal views on the issue, but would be obligated to follow company policy. BuzzFeed’s current Editorial Standards and Ethics Guide currently states “nudity or sex should be avoided if it’s prurient or pornographic” and that for a number of issues, including women’s rights, “there are not two sides”.…

In today’s society we commonly refer to women as a “sex symbol”. Even if we do not literally say it, we see examples of it every day in the media. As we drive on the highway, we pass large billboards of headless women in little lingerie outfits. Generally, they are skinny, large-breasted women. When we watch a Dallas Cowboy’s game on the TV, we see shots of the Cowboy’s cheerleaders in their tight, skimpy, outfits jumping around and shaking their pomp oms.…

The campaign team uses that theme several times in their press releases by pointing out that the race will be “one of the most (…) popular sportives in the British calendar” (TDY Press Release 1).…
