In an event that calls for crisis communication, the main building and the auxiliary building of AIS are equipped with underground voice and data communication lines. The software is up to date and is underground; therefore, the system is protected from the external forces that occur above the Earth’s surface, and earthquakes do not seem to be a common worrisome threat to AIS. The communication line offers employees to communicate using intercom systems that are located in both buildings. In addition, AIS has a special website in place for employees in case of a crisis. If a crisis event occurs, and employees need to be contacted from outside of the workplace, they will be alerted via cell phone. AIS has assembled a voicemail system in which automatically alerts employees after hours if a crisis situation is in effect. The voice mail system is handled therefore by a subcontractor in which is fully equipped to deal with a high level of calls. In addition to cell phone and voicemail alerts, employees can also be alerted through email. The email server is located within the data center.
Notifying employees through the use of cellular devices is an excellent way of getting the message across, as cellular phones are more reliable than that of the internet. Because voicemails are sent with the use of cell data, the only major threat to this system going wrong is if cellular towers were down or if something went wrong on behalf of other parties than that of AIS.
