A Character Analysis Of Beowulf As An Epic Hero

A Person with super human abilities and who is in battle for the duration of the story and usually dies heroically at the end. Beowulf is the hero. He hears of Grendel from sailors and goes to get revenge and sails out to kill him.
Beowulf is a hero born into greatness. He is capable of deed of great strength and courage. He is a national hero and is also the greatest warrior to live.
Beowulf has done great things to help people in need. Beowulf saves the Danes from Grendel when no one could. “people gather from far and wide to praise Beowulf’s mighty deed.” Word about Grendel spread by sailors to the land of the Geats where Beowulf stays. The wisest people have sent Beowulf to aid Hrothgar and to stop Grendel. Beowulf was challenged to kill Grendel and he does it with no weapons or armor. “ one of Hrothgar’s thanes or pledged warriors, named Unferth challenges Beowulf doubting that he can best Grendel.” Unferth is one of Hrothgars soldiers. He is jealous of Beowulf and does not think he can kill Grendel. Beowulf is going to kill Grendel

Beowulf has a great strength. He uses his strength to kill foes. “ They have seen my strength for themselves, have watched me rise from the darkness of war dripping in my enemies blood.” Beowulf has done whatever he had to, to kill any monster. He swam at night , and ran around the world hunting monsters. Beowulf chooses to go to where Grendel’s mother lives and kill her there for revenge. “ Beowulf agrees to fight Grendels maker, “ this lady monster” and to avenge the death of Aeschere. Hrothgar and his men lead Beowulf to the water under which is Grendels mothers cave.” Beowulf has to kill Grendels mother cause she killed Brothers best friend. Beowulf travels alone to fight the monster. Beowulf uses his strength and courage to fight his battles. He lets fate decide who walks away at the end of each battle.
