The cellular industry has already started laying the foundation for 5G, as the 4G deployments are happening worldwide. However, there are few questions that are being discussed among research institutions, standards bodies, operators, the supplier community, trade organizations and governments – What will be the 5G deployment time frame? What will characterize networks beyond 2020? What are the likely technologies that will come in to play for 5G? This paper is a survey paper, in an attempt to address these questions in a systematic way. This paper presents the 5G use cases, requirements, spectrum requirements, considerations and the technology elements. The 5G use cases described in Section II include the Internet of Things (IoT), …show more content…
2. USE CASES FOR 5G
The main focus of 3G and 4G technologies have been on the mobile broadband use cases and never on enhanced system capacity. The future 5G era mainly focus on providing enhanced system capacity and offering higher data rates. However, Future 5G Networks should offer wireless access to anyone, anywhere and anything and it means wireless access will go beyond humans and expand to serve any entity that may benefit from being connected. Often this vision is known as “the Internet of Things (IoT),” “machine-to-machine communications (M2M),” “the Networked Society,” or “machine-centric communications.” Future times, even machines need to talk to WANs for home security, alarm monitoring, fleet management and many other applications will continue to grow and it is not impossible for machine customers to outnumber human customers.

In other words, the density of cellular devices (devices/area) will increase and the larger part of this increase will be coming from M2M services, which require much higher data rates compared to current available rates of few hundreds of Mbps(LTE-A targeted for 500 Mbps).
2.4. PUBLIC SAFETY NETWORKS
The U.S. and Canada are planning to deploy an LTE broadband network for public safety at 700 MHz to leverage pricing of standardized commercial equipment. Some of the other nations will take a lead from it, soon follow the same path. So, it is important that 5G should consider the public safety use cases of monitoring the public spaces and property with High-resolution security cameras, Drone-or robot-based surveillance systems for monitoring remote areas, intrusion detection with the help of wireless sensors and tracking devices, Chemical, bio and nuclear hazard detection and emergency personnel tracking.
3. REQUIREMENTS FOR 5G
As a result of many of the industry and standards body initiatives that have progressed with work on 5G and the requirements that are broadly accepted [2],[3],[4] is depicted in the figure
