What are the recommendations for pre/post natal exercisers?
1. Reg. exercise at maintenance level recommended. Avoid new activities.
2. 1st tri, avoid ex. in hot/humid weather
3. Avoid high-impact activities
4. Gradual & prog warm up & recovery
5. Using RPE, stay within 12-14
6. Modify supine & prone activities after 1st tri
7. Consult physician before/during & after preg. Cease immediately if anything unusual.
8. Monitor nutrition, water & calories to ensure getting enough
9. Minimize quick direction or position changes
10. Promote & encourage prenatal particp. to listen to bodies.
What are the recommendations for older adults?
1. Increase endurance act. to 4-7x weekly
2. Increase flexibility act. to every day
3 Increase strength & balance to 2-4x/wk
What are recos for new exercisers?
1. Keep movement patterns simple.
2. Remind them to work at own pace.
3. Make them feel part of the environment.
