Zoo animals harassment should be taken seriously and dealt with promptly so as not to become an epidemic in the community. This phenomenon must be contained to prevent the zoo organization from failing to operate productively which in turn could adversely affect the country. Two ways to solve the problem is:
4.1 Conserve Animals In Sanctuaries Rather Than A Zoo.
Zoo is a place where animals, primates and birds are kept in in captivity in an artificially created habitat. A zoo management might buy, sell, breed, or trade animals, or even capture animals from the wild and exploit them. The rights of the individual animals are not considered. The zoo staffs should have training in adaptations to habitats, animal welfare, animal behavior, science in the work place and marketing. However, it is also the managements duty and responsibility to promote the protection of the zoo’s animals. By creating an emotional connection between zoo staffs and animals a feeling of accountability to encourage them to live a more animal friendly lifestyle. Dedicated staff can be created with ethical education and training. Organizing training for zoo staff, and encouraging attendance at national and international zoo education conferences, are other ways in which the zoo management can solve the ethical problems. Training should include information about animal exhibition as well as animal communication techniques. The zoo staffs should also receive specialized animal handling training. It is crucial that zoos actively involve in captive breeding programmes and aware of how animals behave in their native habitat Even if the zookeepers has previous experience training animals, they must go through a period of time during which they become familiar with the individual animals personalities and training methods used before he or she interacts directly with them. I believe with the necessary training and ethical education, the zoo management and its staff can ensure a safe environment for animals and its
