There is two classifications of yellow fever. There is Jungle and Urban yellow fever. Jungle yellow fever is spread by jungle mosquitoes and mainly affects monkeys. Humans who go into the jungle can become infected by mosquitoes that became infected by biting infected monkeys, and can be the source of urban outbreaks of the disease. Urban yellow fever is spread when a certain type mosquito bites an infected human or monkey and then goes on to bite other people. It is spread by the bites of female mosquitoes. It is caused by flavivirus which is a genus of viruses in the family Flaviviridae that are positive, single-stranded, enveloped RNA viruses.
The virus remains silent in the body during an incubation period of three to six days. However, it does requires a medical diagnosis. Some of the symptoms include; fever, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Serious cases may cause fatal heart, liver, and kidney conditions. The person will also get chills, feel fatigued and may lose their appetite. Bleeding or yellow skin and eyes are also common. The person will feel pain in the abdomen or muscles.
