It has been about sixty years since the Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, had a friendly chat with Gandalf and Balin. Hobbiton has not changed dramatically, and Bilbo too did not change. From time to time, Bilbo will sit on his armchair with his mug of tea at four, daydreaming about all the wonderful good old days being the master burglar. He missed the company of fourteen, even those who passed away during the Battle of the Five Armies (which Bilbo actually thought it would be more appropriate to be called the Battle of the Eight Armies including the army of bats and eagles, and counting Beorn as an army). Bilbo did travel to places, but it was very seldom. He mostly visited Elrond and the elves, …show more content…
“We decided to escort this hobbit to you, and also visit!” Ori continued. “It has been a very long journey, a tiring one. You said tea is at four, let us get fed!” Bombur ended. The dwarves did not wait for Bilbo’s answer. The eleven dwarves rushed into Bilbo’s pantry as if it is their own. They started feasting on his food, vanishing them within in minutes. However, Bilbo did not get frustrated. He was too joyful to even get frustrated. In the room, only Gandalf, Bilbo, and the Hobbit was left. Gandalf was the first to break the silence. “Mr. Baggins, it’s so good to see you!” “Indeed it is! Did you come to celebrate my birthday (which is in a fortnight)? Why did you bring the hobbit to Bag End? Are we going on another adventure! I am most welcome to go on another one!” Bilbo asked with enthusiasm. “Oh no Mr. Baggins! We are not going on another adventure! However, we did come to celebrate you and this young hobbit’s birthday (which is on September 2)!” Gandalf replied. “What do you mean?” Bilbo asked with curiosity. “It means you, Mr. Baggins, and this young hobbit’s birthday is on the same day!” Gandalf …show more content…
“I want to be a Baggins, sir, and this is the reason why I am here, sir!” “You want me to adopt you, eh? Give me time to think. Now, join the dwarves and have a feast! As Bombur said, I know it has been a tough journey! I will join you soon!” Bilbo said. When Frodo was also gone, Bilbo and Gandalf had a chat about the things going on in the Wilderland, and especially the Lonely Mountains and Lake Town. Bard was dead at the age of eighty-six, quite a big age for a man. The dwarves have rebuilt everything back like the old days before Smaug the dragon invaded them. The dwarves are now digging more underground, mining and also providing more shelter. The elves are searching for Ents (trees that can move and talk) and trying to awaken them. Unlike Hobbiton, the Wilderland had changed dramatically, and is changing dramatically now. After their small chat, they joined the dwarves and Frodo. Not much was left now compared to the beginning of the feast, but there still was enough for a wizard and a hobbit. That night, everyone had a good feast. They ate, they drank. They also sang songs and told tales, just like the olden
