You want to let your horse smell it and see it and be completely fine around it so that they don’t care about it at all. The first thing we will do is get another person to hold the horse so you can gently place the saddle on their back. For the saddle, you will want to use one that fits you and the horse properly.
They should be comfortable with the saddle on them before you tighten the girth at all. Put the saddle pad on, then the saddle like you have done this every day for your whole life, so they think “Oh okay nothing is going to hurt me.” You need to be confident and calm. When you are mounted sitting on your horse, you will pet them all over staying calm, making sure you are secure in the saddle in case they decide to buck or rear you can stay safe.
