Researchers theorize that a protein called apolipoprotein E, or APoE, is the cause of the tangles. When most people think of Alzheimer’s they think of old people who forget their relatives. This is untrue however because thought a person may have Alzheimer’s he/she may only have an early stage of it. There are seven stages of Alzheimer’s. The first stage is almost non-existent. The person will not have any symptoms. However this is a stage of Alzheimer’s because a PET scan will reveal Alzheimer’s even in this stage. The second stage is where the person will exhibit mild symptoms, such as forgetting a word or misplacing an object. The third stage is where people normally notice the changes. The person can forget something they just read, or ask the same question repeatedly. Also this person will have trouble planning and organizing. The fourth stage is where things begin to go bad.
