The speech is also very popular because of the crowd he appeals to. He wins over the lower class citizens because he believes in making them prosperous. Not only does he appeal to the vast lower class, but the other major group that he appeals to is the farmers by making bimetallism a policy he would basically take farmers out of debt. Throughout his speech he is very appealing and friendly towards the end of the speech he creates a fire in the hearts of the audience. In the two paragraphs he shows that America is a strong country and he shows he will stand up to England when he says “If they dare to come out and defend the gold standard as a good thing, we shall fight them to the uttermost”. I believe this is one of the best closing because he takes what the people are passionate about and says he will defend and fight against others who oppose
