Since the very beginning Jack had a cruel desire for mastery. This desire he was so eager about comes from the fact that he wanted to rule the island his way and have all the power to be able to make decisions without anyone consent. “I ought to be chief,” said Jack with simple arrogance, “because I’m chapter chorister and head boy. He finds comfort and pleasure from making others suffer and has his own cruel way to persuade people to do what he wants. “He’s not a hunter. He’d never got us meat.
