According to a Guardian Poll over the cost of school uniforms, “77 [percent] of voters believed they were paying too much” ("Uniforms Too Expensive").In Anderson, Indianapolis , married couple filed suit over a uniform policy that was being put into place amongst their local schools. Having five children, aged five to seventeen, they would have to buy five sets of pants and shirts for each child, which is approximately $640 (Spence). Although this may cause a burden on some families’ budgets, this burden may be lifted if schools would split or take care of all of the costs for the uniforms.
