They told David that the customers who choose to leave a smaller tip are often spoken of in much less than a favorable nature within the waitperson culture. Waiters and bartenders tend to not discuss tips while working nor should they, but they do when their shifts are over and done with. An example, I see a table come in that I have waited on multiple time who tips at least 20% everytime they come in to eat. I see them sit down in my co-worker Brooke’s section, and let her know that those specific people tend to tip very well when they leave. Brooke will most likely take care of them to the best of her ability to make sure she gets the good tip I told her they usually leave for excellent
