Density dependent survival factors would include using sustainable energy, as in solar power or wind power. …show more content…
Since the late 1700s a man named Thomas Robert Malthus explained carrying capacity and he believed that the world’s population would advance far beyond the food resources. Living in a country where starvation is an issue in many countries is is fair to suggest that in these areas their carrying capacity has been reached. If there were enough food no one should go hungry (Cohen). In 1992 the population grew approximately 93 million people, which was the size of Mexico at the time. There’s no mistake that the earth’s population continues to grow and the united states and other advanced countries do not make up for the most increase, lower income nations are contributing more to the population (Daily). Figure 1 shows that the highest amount of contribution to the world’s population is due to lower-income nations, such as Africa, which is the country with the most births (Haub). The higher birth rate
can be the cause of a number things. This could include not having contraception available and having large families to help out.
In conclusion, I think that the carrying capacity of the world has no quite met the limit just yet but is on its way. We will reach the limit and something will have to be done or the planet will not continue to sustain the way we are living
