One of the main reasons I would like to become a psychologist is because of their flexible work schedules. Psychologists can choose to create their own therapy practice and manage their own hours. They can choose to work part-time to have personal time with their families and tend to their needs. Another reason is how interested I am with the human mind and how behavior results from what is felt in the mind. I would like to understand why I personally feel for inanimate objects and fear throwing garbage away, while others can simply toss it without a second glance. I am not the only one who feels that way, as I have learned with research on that topic. Not only are those a couple reasons why I would like to become a psychologist, I cannot leave out the best reason; helping others overcome their challenges. I know what it’s like to feel alone when you need to vent to someone whom you trust. I used to harm myself physically to reduce the suffering that I was going through at those times. Although I ended up getting more hate for those poor actions, it made me feel good for a mere moment. But then I had to stare at the scabs, then the scars, and wait for them to fade.
