Germany had experienced a crushing blow upon losing the Great War. The Treaty of Versailles punished Germany, incurring upon them the total cost of the Great War, a whooping 6,600 million pounds. On top of this, Germany lost an enormous amount of land to France, Belgium, Czechoslovakia and Poland.
