Having it totally individual might cause many health problems but learning the hard way might be the way people start to make better choices. I can reflect on the times my parents start to let me be free of choice of what I was to consume and I remember wanting all the junk food possibly because I was never allowed a lot of sugar or sodiem. Choices started to be tough when I went to an American boarding school in 9th grade. At our school all the food was locally grown, hand made and organic. Having these meals everyday for four years wasn’t something I was looking forward to. Although they were extremely healthy, it was easy to get sick of only eating healthy or what was known to be healthy at least. I started to want more outside food and it lead me to eating out a lot when I was in grade nine which started at just normal family resturants to always wanting nuggets, fries or ice cream from a fast food place. I quickly learned my lesson when I started to gain a little weight and from then on I have tried to have one day a week where I have something unhealthy. My sports and parents obviously impacted my thought processs on unhealthy food as well but it took my will power to initially start the change. As said in the article “American consumers, our government ought to be working to foster a sense a responsibility in and ownership of our own health and well being” (pg.397). This is what I did, I took responsibility by making a food journal and making sure to not let myself eat in horrible habits to lead me to being unhealthy. As I am very fornate to be extremely athletic and come from a home that is healthy, people must teach their kids to make choices that are unhealthy and this will come from them by making good healthy choices as
