INTRODUCTION OF SPEECH – Using guidelines from the text, what type of introduction did the speaker use? Was it appropriate? What kind of attention-getting device was used? The speaker’s topic was, a factor in effective leadership. Therefore, it was in line with the conference objectives. Also, the speaker asked the audience to use cell phones to demonstrate the importance of her topic. First, the speaker asked the audience to send a text message to anybody outside the forum, of an opinion about a controversial issue. Then, after a few minutes without response, we were asked to pick anybody from the audience to ask the same question of their opinion on the controversial matter. Clearly, the speaker was able to demonstrate the importance of a right way to an effective communication.

The speaker ended the speech awkwardly because one of the organizers came to check if the room was ready for another speaker who will use the room. So, the speaker just concluded the speech by giving her email address, and encouraged the audience to email her for feedback. It was not a very powerful speech in my opinion. The impact on me was not very strong because I felt that it was just like one of the classes I attend from Monday to Thursday.
