Romeo goes to the Capulet party, when he is seemly speaking to himself, he voices his first thoughts on Juliet, and proclaims his love for her. In reality he was speaking aloud and Tybalt overhears him. Romeo’s affection towards Juliet enrages Tybalt so he sends Romeo a letter where he challenges him to a duel in the town square. Later, when Romeo walks out of the Church (where he just married Juliet), into the square right at the same time he was supposed to meet to fight Tybalt. It is fate that Romeo knew nothing about the fight. It is also fate that Tybalt, Mercutio and Benvolio were there.
