Performance Task: Book Review
The novel’s prelude states that “Tom is a typical young boy who loves fun and adventure. The problem is, he loves fun and adventure so much that he often gets into trouble. Most of his adventures are fun and harmless until one midnight, Tom and Huck went to a graveyard and witnessed a terrible crime.” The prelude itself is thrilling but very much conspire me. As you start reading the book and turn its pages one by one, it will take you together with the Adventures of Tom Sawyer. Tom was disappointed that his Sunday day off was forfeit. However, his cleverness persuades his friends to trade him small treasures in exchange to do his work. It was midnight when Tom escaped in his room to go with Huck in the graveyard to burry a dead cat. This is the rising action of the novel, which brings you to a tragic adventure of Tom in the graveyard.
Tom and Huck witnessed the murder of young Dr. Robinsons in the graveyard by Injun Joe who is a “half-breed” Native-American. Quickly they hid in a barn and in fear, Tom and Huck made a promised with each other not to tell anyone what they saw by writing it on a paper sealed with their blood. Tom then acted weird and unusual that made Sid, his half-brother wondered and call his Aunt attention. Meanwhile Potter, was arrested and was accused of murder and Tom’s uneasiness and guilt begin to grow. As they explore the cave, looking for a way back home, Tom found a treasure but unfortunately, Injun Joe, saw him and when Tom noticed it, he ran fast as he could. Injun Joe almost caught Tom but he failed to climb where Tom is, and Tom fought him back with a knuckle door on his pocket and threw it to Injun Joe. The “half-breed” Joe, fell in the splashing water down in the cave and rest in peace. Becky, on the other hand, screamed and snapped in fear. After, Tom dragged Becky and cheered her up that they will get out in the cave. Tom noticed a light, and follow it thinking that it would lead them to escape the
