The evolution of technology has changed and introduced new methods of streaming live events and updated information. When a student is cyberbullied and attends high school, he or she feels intimidated by not only the harasser online but by students on the campus. The adolescent that is involved in cyberbullying becomes emotionally distraught which leaves him or her to not be themselves and affects their educational performance. When an adolescent is bullied, he or she feels inclined to come less to school because they feel that the harassment would follow wherever he or she go. Students that are a victim to cyberbullying and harassment tend to pay less attention in the class and more on what people think of the individual. On Pennlive.com Eric Veronikis quotes an article online called nobullying.com that states “Bullying used to end at the end of the [school day]. And now it continues through the world of cellphones and computers,” said Michael Black, assistant principal at Carlisle High School. “So things that are happening at night, now are going around the school. When a student is different from the other peers, he or she is more likely to become a victim of harassment and bullying because it is easy for the reactive bully to poke fun and emphasize the victim’s different personality. High schools are facing an overwhelming amount of victims that state he or she have been harassed and cyberbullied. On pennlive.com Veronikis quotes a 2014 statistics published by nobullying.com in which states, “ More than half of the country’s young people, 55 percent, have reported being cyberbullied; and of the young people who reported cyberbullying incidents, one-third of them said their bullies issued online threats.” This statistic proves that young individuals are targets online and more than half feel this growing epidemic is causing threats on their lives. This generation of high school students is dealing with a problem that many others did not, since it 's a new issue not a lot has been done to save young lives that feel threatened and harassed. Furthermore, having young individuals become victimized by cyber bullies creates a toxic environment for learning and affects the adolescent 's development into adulthood.
