We have had many rivers and streams become very polluted. One main river was Savannah River. There are chemicals being carried or dumped into our streams and rivers. "That’s nearly 2 million miles of our streams at risk, threatening the drinking water of 117 million Americans.", the writer said. When our waterways are contaminated we may not use the water in any way. We need our water for various of things. We use our water for drinking, cooking, bathing, and washing. Without the use of water, we will lose food, we wont have water to drink, we wont be able to keep our hygiene together and more. This putting us in more trouble than we already are. Industries dump their waste from the plant into streams and rivers. They are dumping toxic metals, chemicals and waste into open waterways. In effect to this, it is destroying our community, ecosystem, environment, and habitat. We need all of these to survive on this earth. When coming in contact with this contaminated water, us humans are at risk. Not only are humans at risk but, also all animals that are drinking and using this water too. The fish and other species that live in water are also being effected by the harmful things going on with our water. Water pollution also effects our ground water, polluting our soil. This is where soil pollution takes place. "Water pollution has already rendered many ground water resources useless for humans and wildlife.
