The main reason for this decline was because the resin that Rubbermaid used to make their products increased in cost so the company needed to raise their price to make a profit. Many companies favored outsourcing because it was the most inexpensive way to create their product and keep the profit margin large. Outsourcing “means contracting with other companies (often in other countries) to do some or all of the functions of a firm, like its production or accounting tasks.” Outsourcing is legal, very profitable, and cut the cost of production but does not benefit all stakeholders. Although the goal of many businesses is to make money so it makes sense to outsource but there are disadvantages also.
