Social psychology also deals with social norms and being rebels we are, we have to violate a social norm. The social norm that we violated was the simple social norm dealing with situation. When you think of a restaurant or a place that you eat, there are multiple types of places that can be envisioned. There are fancy places, fast food places, buffets, or just a regular restaurant. Whether you are in one place or another, there are certain social norms in place that is followed. You wouldn't see people wearing party/club dresses at a fast food restaurant or at a fancy diner. You especially won't see formal wear and a formal dinner at a fast food restaurant. That is exactly what we violated. Gosh, this makes us sound like rebels. How we conducted this social norm is simple. We started by recruiting people to participate. Then, we figured out who would bring what and planned in detail of how we were suppose to act. Tablecloth was flown out on the tables, a flower arrangement was placed as a centerpiece, plates and proper silverware were placed meticulously, all to dine as finely as we could… at McDonald.
