PROBLEM STATEMENT
To assess the effectiveness of video-assisted teaching regarding the knowledge on Prevention of Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia in the Intensive Care Unit among staff nurses of selected hospitals.
OBJECTIVES
1. To assess and compare the knowledge of staff nurses before and after video assisted teaching on prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia.
2. To find an association between the level of knowledge regarding prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia and selected demographic variable.
OPERATIONAL DEFINITIONS
1. Assess
According to Oxford Dictionary, it is to evaluate the value, importance or quality(8).
In this study, Assess refers to evaluating the effectiveness of video assisted teaching among staff nurses regarding prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia.
2. Effectiveness:
According to Oxford dictionary, it is producing an intended results or existing in fact though not formally acknowledged as such (8).
In this study, effectiveness refers to significant gain in knowledge regarding ventilator associated pneumonia after …show more content…
Avedis Donabedian, a physician and health services researcher at the University of Michigan, developed the original model in 1966. The Donabedian model is a conceptual model that provides a framework for examining health services and evaluating quality of health care. According to the model, information about quality of care can be drawn from three categories: “structure,” “process,” and “outcomes"(15).
This study is based on the concept of enhancing knowledge after the video assisted teaching on knowledge regarding the prevention of ventilator associated pneumonia.
The three processes are :
• Structure
