Chick-Fil-A is the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain in the United States, however CFA is limiting it self from reaching the full capacity of other chicken based fast food restaurants. Although they have a solid base here in the U.S. a company so successful could greatly benefit from a more diverse outlook. Since 1986 the company has experienced gradual growth and is currently concentrating its US expansion to Western and Northeastern states. As of now, the company has no intentions of international expansion. CFA is also a Christian based company, and is very public about its beliefs; In fact it is the basis for which they attribute their success, and excellence.…

As a concerned citizen of Milford, NY, the proposition of allowing our local religious group, the Good News Club, to host their meetings at our public elementary school has been the talk of the town recently, and has drawn many opinions from both sides of the argument. However, it is of my opinion that the Supreme Court is wrong in their decision to allow the Good News Club to meet in its local elementary school. Rather than basing their final jurisdiction on the Establishment Clause, they opted to argue for the Free Speech Clause, less relevant to this particular issue. The evidence that the Good News Club is unlawfully promoting and advancing religion on public school property, combined with the fact that the time the club meets at…
People are getting shunned when they speak their minds. The people are not realising that their free speech is getting censored. The United States is beginning to see the right of freedom of speech being taken away in businesses and universities as everyday life. Every day, businesses get shunned like the one called Chick-Fil-A. Chick-Fil-A is a private business owned by one person, Dan Cathy. They have a mission statement that says they support the Biblical definition of marriage; and that is between one man and one woman.…
In early September, Twenty-First Century Fox settled with past host of a news show on Fox New, Gretchen Carlson, for sexual harassment. She was awarded twenty million dollars for her being a victim of long time CEO Roger Ailes. Roger Ailes was eventually fired from running the Fox News company. In her lawsuit, Carlson said her contract wasn 't renewed after she “refused to sleep” with Ailes and reported "severe and pervasive sexual harassment” at her workplace. (Yu, 2016)…
Journalism in the United States has changed over time by newspapers to phones, television, and to computers. “The media are very important.” “How would you know what’s going on without TV, radio, magazines, the internet, or newspapers.” The changes has affected society because of all of the devices and internet. Journalism has changed from newspapers to television.…
In order to have effective instruction, it is crucial that teachers have an understanding of child development. Throughout their years in school, children experience a myriad of social, emotional, and behavioral changes. Teachers should implement research based strategies in order to develop a caring learning environment so these changes can take place alongside learning. In the case study “Another Typical Day,” Mrs. Arling must ensure her students are making academic progress; however, she still must attend to the social and emotional needs of her student. Countless studies show that the most effective way to provide instruction is to introduce it in a concrete way; once students have an understanding, only then can they understand it pictorially.…
The Slants have a very good chance on winning this battle, due to their proud and positive definition of the word. The Supreme Court will probably justify that the Lanham Act is going against the First Amendment and is ruining the band’s freedom of speech. Due to their name being more of a favorable meaning than the anticipated racial slur, the court will rule with “The Slants”, as they will see the band is trying to do good and transform this into a positive badge. This case although, may not be the landmark case that all the professional teams are hoping for. Even though The Slants may be able to get away with this, this case will not help out any of the other trademark disparagement cases.…
In Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman discusses “the news of the day”(7), and his opinion on it. Had it not been for the mediums that we get our information from, we would not pay attention to certain stories. He states that the news of the day is simply “a figment of our technological imagination” (8) and without the platform to display it, “the news of the day does not exist” (8). I agree with Postman's view because in my everyday life I choose to get information from not only the people around me, but from media that reports stories from all over the world. I usually start my mornings with local news on television.…

In discussions with Jessica, it became evident she is mature and conscientious. She is able to discuss a multitude of different topics and consider connections between various areas of children’s development.…
In light of Donald Trump’s shocking rise to political eminence as the newly elected president of the United States, numerous rhetorical artifacts relating to an uncertain and fraught future for American government and politics have inundated mainstream media and news outlets, hailing a resurgence of national interest in federal government through largely dogmatic and peremptory ideological and propagandistic rhetorical texts. The recent controversial “Person of the Year” cover of TIME magazine showcasing a pensive President Donald Trump delineated in melodramatic shadows against a livid, uninspiring backdrop exists as a notable and salient rhetorical artifact within American social and media culture. As such, the magazine cover asserts a persuasive…
