A chest x-ray was completed anteriorly and posteriorly. Results of the chest x-ray came back negative for any tumors or masses. The client must have all three major criteria which includes red blood cell mass over 36 milliliters per kilogram, arterial oxygen level greater than ninety two percent, and splenomegaly. Two minor criteria’s must also be met. These include platelet count greater than 400,000 cubic millimeters, white blood cells greater than 12,000 with or without fever and infection, and leukocyte alkaline phosphatase score greater than 100 with an increase blood serum levels of vitamin B12 (Frey, 2011). Some risk factors for this illness include smoking, chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder, and genetic predispositions.
