As Ponyboy mentions “His father was always beating him up, and his mother ignored him, except when she was hacked off at something and then you could hear her yelling at him clear down at our house.” (12). Johnnys parents obviously don't care about him because if they did they would want to set a good example to Johnny , like not getting drunk and beating your kid and not blaming your child because of your own problems. Therefore both Johnny and Dally's parents don't care about them and that makes them similar.
Another way Johnny and Dally are similar is how they both give little value to their lives. When Johnny dies Dally is in shock, he robs a store and he calls the gang. Ponyboy thinks “Dally raised a gun and I thought: You blasted fool. They dont know youre only bluffing. And even as the policeman's gun spit fire through the night I knew that was what Dally wanted”(154). If Dally gave value to his life he would of not robbed a market with a gun that was not loated and then runned away.
